The second Robotech and Innovation (ROBIN) Competition, organised by Seria Energy Lab (SEL), came to a successful close at Pusat Insani, Seria, marking the exciting finale of the SEL Young Innovators (SELYI) program.
A total of 113 students from 26 schools across Brunei competed in two main categories: Robo Sumo and Innovation, demonstrating their creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills gained through months of training and workshops.
Present as Guest of Honour during the event was Yang Mulia Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education, together with representatives from SEL’s collaborating partners.
In the Innovation (Physical-Based Solutions) category, The Golden from Sekolah Menengah Lambak Kiri claimed first place, followed by Neo Cipta from Sekolah Menengah Perdana Wazir in second and The Warriors from Sekolah Menengah Menglait in third. For Innovation (Digital-Based Solutions), Ctrl Alt Dominate! from Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan secured first place, followed by AFA-711 from Sekolah Menengah Sultan Sharif Ali in second and App Hunter X from Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah in third. Meanwhile, teams battled in the Robo Sumo 500g and 1kg challenges, with Divergent Sequence from St. Andrew’s School and Botzilla from Sekolah Menengah Perdana Wazir emerged as champions in respective divisions. The second and third place awards for Robo Sumo 500g went to 2 People from Sekolah Menengah Tanjong Maya and Wiring Monkeys from Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan respectively, and for Robo Sumo 1kg, second and third place awards goes to 2 Bit Bots from Sekolah Menengah Pengiran Hajjah Isteri Mariam and The Good Boys from Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait, respectively.
This year’s competition once again highlighted the growing talent and innovative spirit among Brunei’s youth, reinforcing SEL’s commitment to nurturing future-ready skills and fostering a culture of innovation.
